Material Handling Baskets

Special Requirements

Material handling wire baskets usually have special requirements, such as tight tolerances, high quality raw materials, and specific finishes. These requirements depend on how the baskets will be used, the environment for the baskets, and other conditions.

Tolerances

We usually see tighter tolerances for these types of baskets. This is due to the sensitive nature of some of the parts that go into the baskets for cleaning or processing.

Electropolishing

Whether 304 or 316 stainless steel is used in the manufacturing of material handling baskets, electropolishing is a must. Electropolishing greatly enhances the corrosion resistance of the base material.

304 Stainless Steel

Type 304 stainless steel is a common choice due to its superior corrosion resistance and toughness.

Quality Assurance

Pronto is an ISO certified manufacturer. Our quality assurance program is an important part of our manufacturing process.

316 Stainless Steel

Type 316 stainless steel is another common choice for custom material handling baskets. 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum, which improves corrosion resistance.

Quality Control

Our quality control engineers develop quality checkpoints specifically for the products that we manufacture.

Material Handling Wire Baskets

The two biggest factors that go into the design and manufacture of material handling wire baskets are the parts that will be placed into the baskets and the solutions that the baskets will be exposed to.

Our process starts with the design of material handling baskets. Often different wire gauges and wire mesh are used to make sure that the parts placed into these baskets will fit securely but provide enough space for the part to be processed. We often see tight tolerances for the critical dimensions of these baskets.

The solutions that a material handling wire basket will be exposed to will often dictate the metal finish. While most baskets use an electropolish finish, we offer several other options. Low density polyethylene (LDPE), nylon, and powder coating are all available. Our experienced engineers can help you choose the right metal finish for your application.

Many customers ask us for carts to transport material handling baskets. We manufacture different carts to help with the transport of these baskets. These carts also need to be sturdy as they are used in an industrial environment.

Special Considerations

CAD Simulation

Pronto uses CAD software for our parts, fixtures, and design work. We also use CAD simulations to test fit, tolerances, and function for stainless steel wire baskets and other wire products.

Material Selection

Start right by selecting materials that are well suited for your application. We use a variety of different materials to make sure that your wire form or sheet metal part will work as intended.

Metal Finishing

Selecting the correct finish for wire forms and metal products is critical. We can help you select the custom wire basket finish that will withstand the temperature, stress, or other relevant considerations for your metal products.
