Steel Wire Products

Materials and Quality Control

Steel wire fabrication for the automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, and sporting goods industries needs rigorous quality control processes because of safety considerations. Our quality control engineers are critical to our success in manufacturing these products.

Usually, we recommend using 304 stainless steel or 316 stainless steel for these types of products. However, that choice will mostly depend on the application and customer’s specifications.

304 Stainless Steel

Type 304 stainless steel is a common choice for steel wire products due to its superior corrosion resistance and toughness.

Quality Assurance

Pronto is an ISO certified manufacturer. Our quality assurance program is an important part of our manufacturing process.

316 Stainless Steel

Type 316 stainless steel is another common choice for steel wire products in these industries. 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum, which improves corrosion resistance.

Quality Control

Our quality control engineers develop quality checkpoints specifically for the products that we manufacture.

Electropolishing

Whether 304 or 316 stainless steel is used, electropolishing is a must. Electropolishing greatly enhances the corrosion resistance of the base material.

Design

Our design engineers can help you save time and money with your steel wire products and steel wire fabrication projects.

Steel Wire Fabrication

Pronto is an ISO certified steel wire fabrication expert. Our quality control engineering team is involved in all aspects of our manufacturing process. The process starts with the design of the product. We use CAD software to review the design of the product and each one of its components.

The next step in manufacturing steel wire products is determining the manufacturing path for a particular product. This will impact fixture design and quality control fixtures. After this, we design and create the fixtures for assembling and welding the steel wire product. A cross functional team holds NPI (New Product Introduction) meetings to review the fixtures and process.

Next, each of the wire forms and metal parts that will be used to manufacture the product are examined and the appropriate equipment is selected for wire forming or sheet metal fabrication. As part of this process, we also examine the different welds that we will use to weld together the different wire forms and sheet metal parts.

We next look at the metal finishing that will be used for the steel wire product. We have many options available for metal finishing and the right finish will often depend on the application and the customer’s requirements.

Because quality control is integral to everything that we do, our quality control engineers develop quality control checks throughout each step of the steel wire fabrication process.

Special Considerations

CAD Simulation

Pronto uses CAD software for our parts, fixtures, and design work. We also use CAD simulations to test fit, tolerances, and function for stainless steel wire baskets and other wire products.

Material Selection

Start right by selecting materials that are well suited for your application. We use a variety of different materials for steel wire products to make sure that your wire form or sheet metal part will work as intended.

Metal Finishing

Selecting the correct finish for wire forms and metal products is critical. We can help you select the custom wire basket finish that will withstand the temperature, stress, or other relevant considerations for your metal products.
